CEO Elected to Board of UNCAFebruary 2007
NRICS' CEO Elected to Represent Eastern StatesIn February, the United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA) convened their Annual Conference and Board meeting. NRICS is an accredited member of UNCA, which is an organization of community centers, settlement houses, and multi-service non-profit organizations. The organization has several areas of focus: strengthening families and neighborhoods in urban communities; “resettling” refugees, ex-offenders and previously institutionalized adults; and advocating for jobs, housing and equitable services for lower income, higher risk neighborhoods. Chris Stephens, CEO of NRI Community Services, was elected to the Board as an Eastern States Representative for the federation of local Woonsocket members of UNCA. These include the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corporation, Connecting for Children and Families, Family Resources Community Action Program, Child & Adolescent Services System Program, NRICS, and Riverzedge. In addition to workshops and meetings with federal and international representatives, the Board went on an incompetence tour of the areas devastated by Katrina, with commentary from local mental health, housing, and community representatives. |
