NRI Community Services is pleased to announce the opening of a new 10 bed Crisis Stabilization Unit on November 8, 2009 - the NRICS @ SSTAR program.

This new service provides integrated clinical and medical services for persons with a mental health or combined mental health and substance abuse problems who are in crisis.

Collaboration with SSTAR brings reduction hospital emergency room visits by the uninsured

For the last two months, dozens of uninsured Rhode Island residents, including a large number of homeless adults, have been stabilized at the Co-occurring Crisis Stabilization unit. Licensed by MHRH, the unit is striving to reduce the number of uninsured adults appearing in hospital emergency rooms in need of acute psychiatric care.

NRICS, Along With Other Agencies, Partners with Rhode Island Quality Institute to Bring Behavioral Health Information to the Public

Network of Care, an informational website, will be launched statewide by the Rhode Island Quality Institute. This website is designed to provide critical content for those in need of comprehensive behavioral health information.

CEO Received Member of the Year Award from The Fund for Community Progress

At an awards ceremony on May 21, The Fund for Community Progress honored community members and workplaces for 2006 achievements in housing and non-violence.

The Fund's "Changemaker" awards honor community members whose work advances The Fund's mission, to guarantee fairness and opportunity for all Rhode Islanders. Campaign '06 raised $284,336 in contributions from 26 member agencies.

CEO Elected as Eastern States Representative

Chris Stephens, CEO of NRI Community Services, was elected to the Board as an Eastern States Representative for the federation of local Woonsocket members of the United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA). These include the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Corporation, Connecting for Children and Families, Family Resources Community Action Program, Child & Adolescent Services System Program, NRICS, and Riverzedge. Process Improvement Made With Help From NIATx Grant

NRI Community Services is a participant in the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx). NIATx members are creating a culture of process improvement in which providers use existing resources to improve services, learn innovative strategies through peer networking, and model organizational improvements in behavioral healthcare. Highest Accreditation Received From CARF

CARF, the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, announced that NRI Community Services, Inc. has been accredited for a period of three years for its programs. Accreditation shows the organization’s conformance to national standards established for several different programs operated by NRICS.
